There are so many options to take advantage of as you grow in your faith journey. In my book, What On Earth Are We Doing?, I talk about ways to get to know God. Of course there is going to church, a bible study, reading on your own and spending quiet time in prayer. However, in the entertainment world we live in now, there are even more options available to us.
In Jesus’ day, the Gospel spread by word of mouth and from words written on scrolls. Oh if they could see us now! The beauty of media is the opportunity to experience God, Jesus, and the Scriptures with all of our senses. Whether we are watching a movie, listening to worship music or a podcast or looking up bible verses on an app from our phone in the palm of our hand, these media outlets bring the Scriptures to life in a way that we can relate to in our present time. And many more lessons can be learned and applied to our life here and now.
Here is a list of some of my favorites! This is a short list for now and I will continue to add more.
Movies

Facing the Giants
Watch this trailer!
Lessons of faith, perseverance, integrity and leadership. Never Give Up!
Favorite quote from the movie,
“God, I resolve to give you my best and leave the results up to you”.

The Chosen Series
Dallas Jenkins brings the Bible to life.
In my humble opinion, this series is like no other. The Chosen tells the story of Jesus Christ, his disciples and followers, by making them more human than they are on paper. The emotions, personalities, and backgrounds of Jesus and the 12 men who were chosen to be His closest friends and later the ones who would be the first to spread the Gospel of Christianity. If you want to know the heart of Jesus, watch the entire series.

I Can Only Image
Based on the true story of a young boy who grew up with an abusive, alcoholic father. That boy, Bart Millard, grew up to be the lead singer in the world-famous Christian band, Mercy Me.
Favorite quote from the movie – “Let that pain become your inspiration.”
I love movies that are based on true stories because God uses our stories as inspiration of faith to others. Our stories matter when our experiences can share how God has worked in our lives. His love shines through and hope is evident to all.

Seven Days in Utopia
Getting your priorities in check.
Sometimes God gets us out of our ordinary life to find Him. Sometimes God puts people in our life to help us see the truth. That is their God assignment. That is our blessing.
