Favorite Faith Media

There are so many options to take advantage of as you grow in your faith journey. In my book, What On Earth Are We Doing?, I talk about ways to get to know God. Of course there is going to church, a bible study, reading on your own and spending quiet time in prayer. However, in the entertainment world we live in now, there are even more options available to us. In Jesus’ day, the Gospel spread by word of mouth and from words written on scrolls. Oh if they could see us now!  The beauty of media is the opportunity to experience God, Jesus, and the Scriptures with all of our senses. Whether we are watching a movie, listening to worship music or a podcast or looking up bible verses on an app from our phone in the palm of our hand, these media outlets bring the Scriptures to life in a way that we can relate to in our present time. And many more lessons can be learned and applied to our life here and now. Here is a list of some of my favorites!  This is a short list for now and I will continue to add more. Dallas Jenkins brings the Bible to life.In my humble opinion, this series is like no other. The Chosen tells the story of Jesus Christ, his disciples and followers, by making them more human than they are on paper. The emotions, personalities, and backgrounds of Jesus and the 12 men who were chosen to be His closest friends and later the ones who would be the first to spread the Gospel of Christianity. The first time Bart performed this incredible song: Based on the true story of a young boy who grew up with an abusive, alcoholic father. That boy, Bart Millard, grew up to be the lead singer in the world-famous Christian band, Mercy Me. Favorite quote from the movie – “Let that pain become your inspiration.” I love movies that are based on true stories because God uses our stories as inspiration of faith to others. What On Earth

Welcome to the debut of the very first “What On Earth” blog! I plan to share ideas, stories, encouragement and reality checks about life, perseverance, perspective, and living F.I.T. for Real Life TM (living by Faith, with Integrity and always Trusting). This F.I.T. concept was God’s lesson plan for me to gain strength to overcome life’s challenges when I was at my lowest points. This foundation has become my way of life, a cycle to keep myself focused on my priorities. This blog series is a source of encouragement, understanding and sometimes being very real about moving through life. My hope and prayer is that you find wisdom, hope and excitement for the future God has planned for you. Let’s get started!What on Earth are we doing in this season of spring? It is a time of renewal and growth. Every year we experience this beauty of a fresh start. Last week we celebrated Easter Sunday, the day Jesus rose from the dead; it was the dawn of a new beginning for God’s children, although they did not quite understand it at the time. However, Christianity was born. Gone were the days of the Old Testament laws, the impossible rules to keep in perfect obedience. Now there was a new way of relating to God our Father. Through His Son, Jesus Christ. Renewal had been set in motion. When my brother was a little kid, he got in trouble for something I cannot even remember, but I do recall that my mom was seriously upset with him, which is not like her. She was on his case about the problem, and he turned to her and said, “Mom, today is a new day and I get a do over”. He was right. And God gave all of humanity a do-over when He gave us His Son, Jesus. Life was not meant to be about rules. It is about relationships. When I was writing my book, “What On Earth Are We Doing?”, I asked God what message He wanted to shine through in the pages. His answer was, “I simply want my children to know how much I love them and that I want them to love me”. For a mom with an estranged daughter, His answer hit me straight in the heart. Of course parents want their children to love them, and God is no different. He has the biggest heart of all. As His children, when we do not choose to be in a relationship with Him, His heart breaks.  I do not know what your relationship is with God or if you have one. Either way, my prayer is that you will think about it. In this season of renewal and growth, please consider where your relationship with God as your Father and with Jesus as a Savior is today. Maybe your faith needs a refresh. Maybe you have questions about God and faith. Maybe you are mad at God. Whatever the status of your relationship, it will not grow unless you water it one way or another. Remember, God loves you. Growing in a relationship with Him is at the top of His agenda. Nothing matters more. You are never too far gone, too far away or too whatever to not be cherished by Him. Consider this blog a planted seed Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail.  They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. – Lamentations 3:22-23
